Internationally renowned figures, such as Nelson Mandela, Graça Machel, Mary Robinson, Desmond Tutu, Kofi Annan, Ela Bhatt, Lakdhdar Brahimi, Gro Brundtland, Jimmy Carter, Fernando H. Cardoso, Muhammad Yunus and Aung San Suu Kyi, who have come together within the group « The Elders », have launched the « Every Human Has Rights » campaign to promote human rights. They have rallied together, not in order to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights (December 10th 2008), but in order to revive and give new meaning to this Declaration.
